« Centered America »
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 09:50PM Panama: the center of two lands, the joining of two seas. I've just returned from a little yoga expedition, traveling cross-country through mountain-top rain forests and along quaint Caribbean surf towns. It's easy to see that Panama is a country tattooed by conflict and opportunists, but its people are surprisingly resilient and warm. I convinced myself to go with no expectations, which always proves to be a gratifying challenge. My rewards: sweeping fields of coffee beans, feisty monkeys in tree tops, brightly colored embroidery, dusty roads and hummingbirds…appearing to halt time while their hearts beat on…1200 times every minute. Central America lives up to its promising name as a place for inner evaluation, centered meditation and the joy of new discoveries.
